This is a beautiful original dug coat size 1830 period artillery corps button. This one has great looking detail. It has the cannon on the front with the eagle perched on top of the barrel. Below the gun is a stack of three cannonballs. This one has the original shank present on the back of the button and you can read the backmark of "TREBLE GILT STANDd COLOUR". The button makers of this time often used these generic backmarks so the retailer could sell the button without advertising for the actual button maker. This is the style listed as figure AY52 in Albert’s button book. It is a great looking 1-piece artillery coat button in excavated condition.
