This is a gorgeous little excavated button. This is the version listed as UU132B in Albert's button book. The face of the button has the beautiful droop wing style Eagle in the center and around the top edge reads "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and underneath that it has the national motto of "E PLURIBUS UNUM". As you can see the face of the button has a beautiful amount of the original gold gilding remaining. The reverse of the 1 piece button has the original shank intact. You can see the makers Mark that reads "I. SCOTT & Co. EXTRA". This is the Mark of the firm of Ives, Scott and company of Waterbury, Connecticut. This farm was in business from only 1834 until 1836. So we know the two-year timeframe when this button would have been made. This is a gorgeous button for any collection.
