Here is a button that you don’t see offered very often! It is an excavated original early 1-piece U.S. naval coat button. This is the pattern that is listed as the NA57 in Albert’s button book but he doesn’t have this backmark listed. It has the Union eagle in the center of the button with the anchor shield by her side. Around the edge of the button it has the stars on the 16 stars on the plain background. On the reverse of the button it has the "TREBLE GILT STAND COLOR” backmark still partially visible. The shank is present and pushed down as you can see. This is a nice and scarce version 1-piece navy button from about the 1820's timeframe.
