Here is a fine non-excavated 21mm coat size Civil War Infantry button. The face of the button has the spread-wing eagle with the "I” shield on its chest. This denotes that it was worn by an officer in the infantry branch of service. There are two things that make this button special. The first is that the button is silvered. The face has a fine amount of the original silver in the recesses. These with gold are tough to find. The other neat thing is the maker marking on the reverse. The original back and shank are intact. It has the scarce and desirable correct Civil War era "HORSTMANN SONS & DRUCKER / NEW YORK” backmark. This is a great looking 100% authentic Civil War 21mm uniform button with the silver wash.
