This is a neat document from the Civil War. This is a claim from the state of Wisconsin to help provide support by the state for a soldier's wife. The document states that Julius C. Dillie, who was serving in Company F of the 31st Wisconsin Infantry, had a wife and he needed help. There is a smaller document glued onto the first that shows where the wife stated she wasn't receiving any other financial aid. The stamp on this document is dated November 19th 1864. The larger document measures 8-1/2 inches by 7-1/4th inches in size. A brief printout of his service as well as that of his regiment will accompany the piece at no additional charge. The records show that he was wounded on March 19, 1865 during the fierce battle of Bentonville, North Carolina. A cool piece from the Badger state.
