Here is an interesting piece that was found in Selma, Alabama. This location is special because it is the area where some of the last Confederate troops that were fighting surrendered. It is a hand forged iron bridle bit. About half of the peace still remains and you can tell by the crudeness of the construction that this one was created out of pure necessity. You can just imagine the tired and battle weary Confederate soldiers using this piece until it broke and was discarded. The piece has the fresh out of the ground appearance. It doesn't display beautifully but you can feel the history when you hold it.
