Here is a neat original Civil War document signed by 1 of the famous "Fighting McCooks" of Ohio. This document is 7 5/8 inches wide and is 9 3/4 inches tall and is dated March 28, 1863. It states at the top that it was received at Murfreesboro, Tennessee and is acknowledging receipt of 2 noncommissioned officer swords as well as the belts and buckles to be used on the noncommissioned officer swords. The wonderful addition on the document is that it is signed in beautiful Brown ink by the kernel that was commanding the Regiment, Anson McCook. McCook was commanding the 2nd Regiment of Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was one of the members of the famous McCook family from Ohio that bravely served the Union during the Civil War. During the Civil War he served as Colonel of the 2nd Ohio Infantry and then later as Colonel of the 194th Ohio Infantry. He received the honorary brevet promotion to the rank of Brig. general on March 13, 1865 for his "meritorious services." This is a great document and his signature is a wonderful addition.
