This is your opportunity to own the rarest of all of the Civil War state seal belt buckles. This is the very scarce original Civil War belt buckle from the state of Arkansas. This is the version of Arkansas belt buckle that is illustrated on page #129 in the revised edition of Mullinax' buckle book as figure #229. On the face of the buckle it has the oval and in the middle it has the beautiful great seal of the state of Arkansas. The seal depicts the 2 eagles flaking a shield in the center. The shield has the symbols of commerce and farming. At the top it has the image of Lady Liberty with the rays emanating from behind here and she is surrounded by stars. The bottom has the ribbon like banner that has the Arkansas motto "REGNANT POPULI" which is Latin and translates as "The People Rule". This is the toughest to find of all Civil War state seal belt buckles. There are less than ten known to exist and two of them are located in Museums. This one was excavated North of Knoxville, Tennessee. It was found by a man tilling his garden in the 1990's. As you can see the face of buckle is in superb condition with fine detail. The reverse of the buckle has excellent original lead intact. There is one of the 2 belt stud bases still present and the other 2 hooks are missing in action. This buckle came from the award winning collection of Don Phillips. His Confederate Belt Buckle display won numerous awards at the biggest Civil War shows across the country. It comes beautifully displayed in a custom made wooden display case. This case was the centerpiece of the Phillips collection and display. This buckle also won the distinction of being awarded "Best Dug Artifact" award from the American Digger Magazine Civil War Show in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This is your chance to own a buckle from his "Best of Show" award winning collection. This is an original Civil War
