Here is a great looking Confederate buckle that just screams necessity! It is an original 2 piece sword belt buckle. This is the version with the unmarked tongue portion. These were very likely made by the famous firm of Leech & Rigdon that was also known as the Memphis Novelty Works Company. This is the version of belt buckle illustrated as figure #048 in Mullinax’ book on Confederate Belt Buckles. This is the style of plate that they hurriedly made and sent into service. They aren't fancy but were extremely functional. They were used mainly by the troops in the Army of Tennessee based on the areas of recovery. This one displays superbly. The verbal history that accompanied this buckle is that it was found a on private property near the battle of Shiloh, Tennessee. This is a fine looking original 2-piece Confederate sword belt buckle with no repairs or restorations at all. This buckle came from the award winning collection of Don Phillips.
