Here is buckle you seldom get a chance to own. This is the pattern that is illustrated as Plate #73 in the Mullinax Confederate Belt Buckle Book. He states that these buckles are believed to have been from the same Southern shop. They took large size US oval belt buckles and converted them to a Confederate buckle. The altered the letter "U" by going through the back to alter the letter to look like a "C". This one has a greenish patina all over and the letter is clearly altered. The reverse of the plate has all three of the original belt hooks intact. The history accompanying the buckle is that it was found in the Maryland Campaign. This buckle came from the award winning collection of Don Phillips. His Confederate Belt Buckle display won numerous awards at the biggest Civil War shows across the country. This is your chance to own a buckle from his "Best of Show" award winning collection. This is a good looking and rare original "US to CS Conversion" Confederate Breckenridge pattern belt buckle for your collection.
