This is one of the toughest to find of all the Confederate belt buckles! It is the pattern that is known to collectors as they "Square” pattern of C.S. belt buckle. They get their nickname because this pattern of belt buckle is almost square in size. This is the version that is illustrated as figure #122 in the revised edition of the Mullinax book on Confederate Belt Buckles & Plates. It is made of solid sand cast brass. As he states in the description in the book, these buckles are an "Extremely rare style...". In our 25= years this is the first one of these we have been able to offer. Mullinax lists it as a rarity of 9+ out of 10 which would translate to 10 or less still surviving. The brass is in very nice shape with no restoration of any kind. On the reverse of the buckle you can see the original small size attachment hook intact. This buckle came from the award winning collection of Don Phillips. His Confederate Belt Buckle display won numerous awards at the biggest Civil War shows across the country. This is your chance to own a buckle from his "Best of Show" award winning collection. This is a good looking and very scarce original Confederate square "CS" pattern belt buckle for your collection.
