This is a tough to find version of the Confederate 2-piece sword belt buckle. This is the pattern that is illustrated as figure #046 in the revised edition of the Confederate Belt Buckle book by Steve Mullinax. It has the widely spaced "CS’ letters on the tongue with the "S” cast slightly at an angle. This one has had the pieces "married” together meaning they weren’t found together but they display and are the correct style for each other. The tongue was found by Ray Davenport in one of the Confederate camps used by Confederate General Lovell’s men near the Tippah Creek in North Mississippi. The pieces display quite well together and will enhance your collection.
