This is a beautiful non-excavated coat size uniform button for the state of Massachusetts. It has the famous arm and sword design of Massachusetts on the face of the button just above the Massachusetts Indian. It has a lined background with stars around the edge. The face of the button has a superb amount of the original gold gilding remaining on front and back with an excellent look. This one has the original back and shank intact with the correct Civil War era backmark of the D. Evans of Attleboro, Massachusetts. This is the style that has the maker marking in the ribbon with the swallow tails on the end. It is the version listed as figure MS30 in Albert’s button book and MS202b3 in Tice’s button book. This is a fine button all the way around and just needs a nice home in your relic room.
