This is an excellent excavated Confederate belt buckle. This is the pattern that is known to collectors as the "Frame” buckle. They have no moving parts and were therefore very durable and effective. They were worn by the regular fighting men of the Civil War. This is the pattern that is illustrated as figure #173 in the Mullinax buckle book. This one is in attractive excavated condition with a deep dark greenish patina all over. This one is as nice as any we have ever been able to offer. The verbal history is that this one was found in Jackson, Mississippi. This buckle came from the award winning collection of Don Phillips. His Confederate Belt Buckle display won numerous awards at the biggest Civil War shows across the country. This is your chance to own a buckle from his "Best of Show" award winning collection. It is a great looking untouched Confederate frame style belt buckle from Mississippi.
