This is a great looking belt buckle! It is an original Confederate States of America rectangular belt buckle. On the front of the plate it has the bold, proud letters "C.S.A.”. This is the thinner style that was originally referred to by collectors as the Virginia style because the early ones were found in Virginia but later on the overwhelming majority were found in Tennessee. Many of the newer collectors call them the "Tennessee Slim" because of the location of recovery and the fact that they are a lot thinner than their thicker cast "Georgia" style counterparts. It still has all three of the original integrally cast brass belt hooks intact on the reverse and they are in nice shape. It has a great dark brown patina and the lettering shows up well. The verbal history that accompanied this buckle is that it was found in the Confederate camps in Dallas, Georgia. This buckle came from the award winning collection of Don Phillips. His Confederate Belt Buckle display won numerous awards at the biggest Civil War shows across the country. This is your chance to own a buckle from his "Best of Show" award winning collection.
