WOW! This is a stunning and scarce coat size Civil War uniform button from the state of Alabama. This one would have been proudly worn by a member of the Alabama Volunteer Corps and it has the "AVC” letting at the top of the button stating that fact. It has the upturned wing style eagle in the center of the button. This upturned wing design is tougher to find than the standard droop wing eagle pattern. The face has an excellent amount of the original gold wash remaining that gives it a superb look all over. On the back of the button it has the entire back present as well as a perfect shank. You can clearly read the cored Civil War era maker’s mark of the D.Evans Company. This is the style listed as figure AB2a in Albert’s button book and AB210a2 in Tice’s button book. This is an excellent button all the way around.
