This is a beautiful original military hatplate from the 1st half of the 1800’s. It is the stamped brass plate that went on the front of the military hat for decoration. This one is a light variant of the pattern like the illustration of figure 631 in the wonderful headgear insignia book by Campbell & O’Donnell entitled "American Military Headgear Insignia”, which we sell. This one has a gorgeous look and even has both of the original attachment loops intact on the reverse. It also has 2 brass loops added to secure it more securely. The face of the plate has the beautiful Union eagle in the center with the "E Pluribus Unum” banner above her. Below the eagle it has the stand of arms that include cannon, rifles and sabers. This is a beautiful piece to add to your collection.
