This is an attractive original Civil War era powder flask. This one has the body has the sides with the brass along the edge that is holding the two tin sides together. It stands about 8-1/4th inches tall and is about 3-3/4th inches across. It has a beautiful deep dark tone patina to the brass and the tin is in exceptional shape. There is one pin size hole on the back side and there is one lead repair that was done long ago. It is the version that doesn't have the strap rings on the sides. The spout is present the spring is still fully functional. Along the top of the spout base it is marked "SYKES PATENT". This is the style flask that was popular during the mid-1800’s and this larger size would have been for a high quality shotgun or rifle. It has a very attractive overall look!
