This is a good looking and classic Civil War era six shot pepperbox pattern revolver. It has the 3 inch barrel length that fires a .31 caliber bullet from the chambers. This one is the five shot version. The side of the fluted cylinder has the Allen & Wheelock Maker’s mark as well as the patent mark. The action of the gun still rotates well even after the years of use. On the side of the hammer it reads "ALLEN'S PATENT 1845". The sides of the frame have the floral pattern scroll work. The original 2-piece walnut grips are present on the handle of the gun. The walnut has a pleasing look to the wood. This is a nice looking and functional Civil War era pepperbox from the famous Allen & Wheelock Company.
