What a cool looking gun! This is a percussion single shot pistol that fires a single bullet of about .46 caliber. The barrel is full-length at 9 inches. It has the original brass blade front sight present but worn down. Towards the breech of the barrel it has the stud style sight that was added long ago. When this gun was originally made, it would have been a flintlock. It was converted to percussion using the drum style conversion. They used a neat looking hammer for the conversion and it has the serpent style design as you can see in the images. The mechanics of the lock still work well on both positions. The stock of this one is what really stands out is the design of the stock. It is constructed of a beautiful single piece of dark wood. On the handle it has the portion that angles back which is why this pattern has the nickname of a "Sawgrip" handle. It has the original brass furniture intact including the brass ramrod channel guides and triggerguard. The triggerguard has the pineapple style finial. This is a cool looking gun from all angles.
