This is a great rebel buckle! This is the unmarked Confederate made belt buckle that is known to collectors as the bevel edge pattern frame buckle. It is the style that was likely manufactured by the firm of McElroy & Hunt of Macon, Georgia. We know this because there is a buckle that shows up almost exactly like this one except it has their maker name cast into the back. This pattern is illustrated on page #95 of the expanded edition of the Mullinax buckle book and is like figure #166. It has a nice green patina all over as you can see in the pictures. These bevel edge buckles are tougher to find than the standard style of frame buckles. It is an excellent piece of Confederate Civil War history!
