This is an original 1854 dated $5 note from the Farmers & Exchange Bank of Charleston, South Carolina. In the center of the note it has the likeness of a slaves picking cotton in the field with the oxen pulling the cotton wagon in the foreground. In the lower right hand corner has the image of John C. Calhoun. On the back of the note it has the pale red orange ink printing still visible with "FARMERS & EXCHANGE BANK” still visible in the center. This wording is between the "5” numbers also in red ink. The note is in circulated condition as you can see in the pictures and displays very well. The bill is correctly hand signed and numbered just as it should be. The note measures 7 inches by 3 inches in overall size. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
