This is a fine looking non-excavated original belt for a U.S. belt buckle. This is the classic style that was worn by the regular fighting men of the Civil War. It would have originally been used with a belt buckle that had the "US" on the face of the buckle. When you look at the belt you can tell that it was used extensively. It is still nice and pliable and full-length. What makes it extra special is that the back of the leather has the remnants of the scarce maker's mark of the firm of Longley & Company of Lewiston, Maine as well as the 1863 production date. It isn't often that you see one of these. This is a good looking non-excavated U.S. soldier’s original leather belt and it has the date and maker marking. It will make a nice addition to your buckle.
