This is a cool looking little gun! It is an original 1st half of the 1800’s flintlock pistol. The sides of the frame are engraved with the design that have the ovals flanked by the flags. In the center of the one shield it has the production location of "CHESTER" which is in England. Ont he other side it has the "JAs HAYWOOD". The maker book states that he was in business from 1815 until 1834. The underside of the barrel has the English style proof marks. The barrel is only 1-1/2 inch in length and is designed to fire a single bullet of about .46 in caliber. The overall size of the gun only measures 6 inches with the barrel only making up 1-1/2 of those inches. The gun is in the original flintlock configuration. The action works on both positions. The original 1-piece wood grips are intact with a fine look all over. This is cool little gun that displays quite well.
