This is a nicely priced authentic Civil War percussion capbox. It is the leather pouch that would have held the soldier’s percussion caps for his pistol, carbine or musket. The outer flap still has the oval stamping of the U.S. Ordnance department inspector, R. White. He approved the box for military use. The closure tab and brass finial are intact and nice. On the back of the box it has both of the belt loops are present. The inner flap is present as are the ears on the sides of the flap. On the innermost compartment it has had the lamb's wool present which was there to keep the percussion caps from falling out. This one still has the vent pick remaining. They used this piece to clean out the nipple of the gun. This is a good looking an complete percussion cap box.
