This is a great looking gun! It is an original early 1800's .46 caliber flintlock pistol. It has the full-length 3-1/2 inch octagonal barrel. At the breech of the barrel, it has the "L.G." maker markings as well as an oval proof marking. The metal parts all have a very pleasing brighter tone. You often hear of these guns that have been kept polished bright as being "in the European manner". Many of the fine European collections were polished like this. The mechanics of the gun are still in the original flintlock configuration. The mechanics catch well on all positions. The gun has the very pleasing smooth hardwood stock. Under the barrel, it has a modern made wooden ramrod. On the bottom of the handle it has the original "Bird's head" style grip cap made of iron. This is a cool looking gun from all angles.
