This is an original Civil War .44 caliber Remington revolver. This is the pattern known to collectors as the Army model. This one has a very pleasing look with a great darker tone. You can still read a portion of the Remington maker’s mark and Ilion, New York production location across the top of the barrel. The serial numbers are matching at 143,869. This is made after the Civil War because during the war they made approximately 128,000 of these revolvers. It has very nice original pair of 2-piece walnut grips on the handle. At the end of the barrel it has the original sight intact. The mechanics on the gun are all nice and crisp on all positions. This is a nice solid .44 caliber Remington army model revolver.
