Here is a great looking original belt and buckle from the Civil War. This is the very high quality officer's belt that has the brass and gold color covered bridle leather body. It has the original matching length adjuster intact as well as the brass hanger. The leather backing has the maker marking of the Cincinnati, Ohio maker Pettibone. This company went into business after the Civil War. The buckle looks very similar to the Civil War eagle buckle. It is cast brass but in my opinion is made after the Civil War. It has the thin integral keeper hook. This is a fine looking piece that just needs a good Indian War uniform to place it on.
