This is an attractive original Civil War era powder flask. This one is marked on the spout by the maker "G.& J.W. Hawksley". Hawksley was one of the premiere powder flask makers of the 1800's. The body has the violin shaped design that displays beautifully as you can see. The flask stands about 10 inches tall and is about 4-1/2 inches across. The spout is present and the lever is present but the original spring is missing in action. It is the version that is made with the four hanging loops remaining on the side. It has a very attractive overall look!
