Here is one of the most desirable of all prints of a Civil War battle, the battle of Fort Donelson. These were done by a Chicago firm called Kurz & Allison, and their name is along the bottom where it states that Kurz & Allison are publishers. Kurz was actually a mural painter when he started. These were done from 1884 until about 1894. These are done by chromolithography, which is a process where each color in the image was printed from a separate stone. The overall paper is 21 inches by 28 inches in overall size. It has some age toning to the paper but it gives the scene a wonderful ancient look. It is an mazing scene with the viscious hand to hand combat as well as the cannon and the destruction. My friend bought this print in 2003 and had it archivally framed in the antique frame and as you can see it displays beautifully.
