This is a tough to find little gun from the famous Remington Company. It is the percussion version of the Remington "Rider” revolver. These were made from 1860 until about 1873 and they only made 2,000 of them. This one has matching serial numbers of 756 (they mixed the serial numbers up with other models). They fire a .31 caliber cartridge from their 5 shot cylinder. They have the very distinctive triggerguard that is made of German silver. The top of the 3-1/8th inch barrel has the Rider’s patent mark along with the Remington maker’s mark and Ilion, New York production location. It also has the 1858 and 1859 patent marks. At the front of the barrel it has the front sight intact. On the handle of the grip it has both of the original hard rubber grips intact with a pleasing look. These guns were state of the art because they were compact and used a double action here you pull the trigger and it cocks back the hammer and fires it in the same motion. The action on this gun works well and fluidly. This is a great little gun of the Rider’s patent from Remington!
