Here is an original paper envelope that was mailed by a Confederate soldier. It is postmarked from Tudor Hall, Virginia with the date of December 24th 1861. It was sent from Captain G.L. Strait who was serving with the 5th South Carolina Volunteers. On the front of the envelope it has the stamped ink notation that it was sent with the postage "Due 10 cts.". This is a cool little piece of Confederate postal history.
