This is a very nice Civil War Louisiana $20 bill. It was issued by the State of Louisiana and is proudly marked across the center of the note. In the center it has the image of Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard. Beauregard was one of Louisiana's favorite sons. He fired the first shot at Fort Sumter, commanded at Shiloh after the death of Albert Sidney Johnston and then later helped to defend Charleston. This note was issued from Shreveport on March 10th 1863 and is marked as such below the image of the General. On the lower right hand corner it has the image of a frontiersman. The note is nicely and correctly hand signed and numbered and if you notice this one has the nice low serial number of "1760". On the back of the note it has elaborate blue ink with the "20" in the center. The overall size of the note measures 6-3/8ths inches by 2-7/8ths inches. The note is in attractive circulated condition. It comes in an acid free holder for preservation and display.
