This is a fantastic set! This is an original mahogany wood case with brass fittings and a pretty red velvet lining. The case itself measures 16-1/4th inches by 6-1/2 inches and stands 3-1/2 inches tall. The case contains twenty-five pieces including the large capital saw for removing limbs. There is a pair of gold plated trephines for relieving pressure on the brain. It has the plated brass and cloth tourniquet for stopping blood flow for the amputation.The are several shapes and sizes of scalpels for surgery. It has has the scissors and snips for skin and bone trimming. There are numerous other instruments. Nearly all pieces marked "W.F. FORD N.Y.". The surgical maker book states that William Ford was located on 85 Fulton Street from 1866 until 1871. This is an amazing set with a fantastic appearance.
