Here are 2 cool documents. The first piece is a discharge paper of Charles Warren who served with the 97th Pennsylvania Infantry. This discharge is written from Raleigh, North Carolina and is dated from June 15th 1865. It tells of how Warren was born in London England and enlisted with the regiment in Fernandina, Florida. He enlisted with the regiment on March 15th 1864. On January 15th 1865 he was wounded during the battle of Fort Fisher in North Carolina. This was the same day that the man that approved the discharge, Colonel John Wainwright, would earn the Congressional Medal of Honor. Wainwright rose from the rank of Private all the way to Colonel during the War. He clearly signs the discharge and also has his rank. He also signed the document on the reverse. The document had separations along the seams and has been repaired using archival quality museum bonding tape. The second document is the 1864 dated document where Warren was officially allowed to become a U.S> Citizen by the State of Pennsylvania. You get both of these documents for $195.
