This is a sword that you seldom see offered. it is the unmarked variation of the U.S. model 1917 naval cutlass. This was the last style of cutlass used by the U.S. navy and the only one after the Civil War model 1860 cutlass. They are very distinctive because of the basket guard made of blued metal with the trimmed out sections compared to the earlier model 1860 with the full brass basket guard. This one has the original black plastic grip intact and it is in excellent condition. The blade is full-length with the clip style point at the end. It measures 24-3/4ths inches from basket to tip. The blade retains a wonderful amount of the original factory bluing. The blade is unmarked as compared to the main 1917 version that has the large "USN" blade marking. The cutlass is missing leather scabbard as they so often are. As you can see it displays superbly from all angles.
