This is a very beautiful military belt buckle that is still on the original leather belt. It is an original militia style plate similar to Plate 153 that is pictured at the bottom of the page on page 102 of the wonderful buckle book that we sell by O'Donnell & Campbell. This one is of higher quality because of the gold gilding that was applied to the face of the buckle. It still retains a nice amount of the original gilding in the protected areas. The spread wing eagle has magnificent detail and above her head it proudly reads "E PLURIBUS UNUM". On the back of the plate it has the original keeper hook present as well as the original bar style belt loop. What really makes this piece special is that it retains all of the original leather belt. Almost always the belt is either missing entirely or missing most of the leather. This one is complete and even has the original leather length adjuster on the inside that is almost always missing in action. The leather is the fine quality white buff leather and as you can see, the leather is in superb condition. This one displays superbly from all angles! Don't miss this one!
