This is a very scarce Civil War button. It is the coat size button that was worn by soldiers serving in the Alabama Corps of Cadets. This is the pattern listed as SU17 in Albert'sbutton book and as ABS282 in Tice'sbutton book. These have also been associated with the Albany Corps of Cadets in New York which is why they don't bring much more. It has the old English style "ACC" on the face of the button with a wreath surrounding the letters and a nice lined background. This one has a push but you can still see the letters. On the back of the button it has a portion of the original maker's mark of Scovill Manufacturing. The shank is missing in action. This is an original and affordable coat size A.C.C. cadet button.
