This has always been one of my favorite button designs. It is the version listed as GI61 in Albert's button book. It has the beautiful droop wing eagle on the face of the button with the shield by her side. Around the edge of the button it has the 16 stars. As you can see this one has clear detail remaining on the face of the button. This is a 1-piece button with the applied shank missing off of the reverse. You can still read the "WARRANTED TREBLE PLATED" backmark on the reverse of the button. This button was found years ago at Fort San Marcos de Apalachee near Tallahassee. More importantly, this button is directly related to Jackson’s visit there in 1818 during the first Seminole War. This is a cool dug button.
