Authentic Confederate Belt Buckles & Plates From The Civil War
Spectacular Original Confederate Memphis Made Spur with "CS" Lettering
Click on an image to enlarge
This is the most desirable of all Confederate cavalry spurs. It is the pattern that was made by the famous firm of Leech & Rigdon who was also known as the Memphis Novelty Works Company. They were located in Memphis, Tennessee and then moved to Columbus, Mississippi when Memphis fell into Union Control. They stand out from all of the other spurs because they have the "Magic Letters" on the spur body. On the body below the neck they have the "CS" cast into the brass. These letters are vividly clear and display superbly. The spur has wonderful curve and a gorgeous patina all over. On the spur legs there is the star design which is also distinctive in a Memphis produced spur. The neck of the spur is in excellent condition. The rowel is still present which is quite hard to find on these. This one was found several years back by Dr. Robert McDaniel. He found it with a metal detector in one of the North Mississippi campsites that were used by Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest. It is 100% authentic and beautiful in every way.
