Ivory Gripped .22 Caliber Allen Patent Sidehammer Revolver

This is a very nice little gun that Flayderman's guide refers to as the standard pattern production of the .22 caliber side hammer revolver manufactured by the Allen and Wheelock Company of Worcester, Massachusetts. They produced 8 different versions of this small pocket revolver with this being the later design. They are easily distinctive because of the cylinder pin that sticks out of the front of the frame. He states that this pattern would be an eighth issue style. These guns were produced between 1858 and 1865 and for all of the 8 patterns it is estimated that they did slightly over 1500 total production. This one is 100% complete and in very attractive condition. It still retains a good bit of the original factory plating. The barrel is full-length at 2-3/8ths inches and it has the original blade style front sight intact. The left-hand side of the barrel has the traces of the Ethan Allen maker's marking as well as the Worcester Massachusetts production location. The mechanics of this gun works cock back correctly on the positions as it should. On the handle of the gun it has the original 2 piece ivory grips intact. The grips have aged to a wonderful color and really make this little gun stand out. Most of the time these guns are found in very rough shape and missing parts but this one is in attractive and complete.
