Here is an attractive original revolver from the 1800s. This is the pattern known to collectors as the Marlin XXX Standard Model 1872 Pocket Revolver. According to Flayderman's guide, this is the round ribbed barrel, fluted cylinder pattern with the production being estimated at a total quantity of 10,000. This gun was produced by the famous Marlin company that was best known for its rifles and shotguns. This particular pattern of gun was produced from 1875 until 1887. This gun has matching serial numbers of 8,635. The left-hand side of the barrel has the New Haven, Connecticut production location as well as the Marlin manufacturer and the July 1, 1873 patent date. These guns were produced with the brass frame and this one still retains a very fine amount of the original nickel plating. The original 2 piece rosewood would grips are present on the handle with a beautiful look. The mechanics of the gun still rotate just as they should. This is an attractive original 1870s Marlin .30 caliber rimfire revolver.
