This is an authentic CDV image Confederate Lieutenant General Braxton Bragg (1817-1876). Bragg was a West Pointer that was assigned a command of the Gulf Coast from Mobile to Pensacola. He served as commander of Johnston’s 2nd Corps during the Battle of Shiloh. Then he was called to Richmond by Jefferson Davis to handle things around Richmond. Late in the War he served under General Joe Johnston in North Carolina. This is a Fine view of one of the South’s most well known Generals. It shows Bragg in uniform and along the bottom of the card it has his autograph that reads "Braxton Bragg" in fine brown ink. Bragg has a very distinctive signature and it is 100% in his hand and is clear. The back of the card has the Richmond, Virginia photographer marking of the Vannerson firm. As you can see it has some humidity spotting but it displays quite well. The image comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. Confederate General CDV images are tough to find with Southern backmarks and this one has that plus his vividly clear autograph as well.
