This is a fantastic opportunity to own a very scarce original cavalry accoutrement. This is an original pair of saddle pommel holsters designed to hold a single shot military pistol on each side. This is the style that would've been popular during the 1840s or 50s. We know they were designed for cavalry. Because of the gold trim around each of the outer flaps. Each of the holsters has the single star embroidered on the flap which denotes the rank of general. On the bottom of each holster it has the applied brass cap with the embossed star design as well. This is the pattern of star that was applied to the center desk of 2 piece belt buckles of the time. The leather is still nice and pliable and each of the holster still has the original finial and closure strap intact. These have spent the last 30 years in the private collection of country music legend, and our friend, Hank Williams, Jr. They are a wonderful piece for any cavalry are firearms collection.
