Have you ever seen an excavated set of these offered for sale? This is a scarce original excavated matching set of horse Hames/Haines. These Hames were used for heavy-draft harness, to which the trace chains are fastened. They are usually found attached over the collar device of horses or mules aligned on Artillery teams. You will occasionally see the Union version of these offered but have you ever had the opportunity to buy a Confederate set? This one is a hand forged version and are in beautiful non-excavated condition. Both of these examples consist of two curved iron bars as well as iron (Swivel) attachment hardware. Amazingly they still have the leather portions intact. They have spent the last several years in the Museum like collection of Lewis Leigh of Northern Virginia. You get both of these rare Confederate artifacts for $695. That is the price of fairly common Confederate shells these days and these are much more scarce to find.
