Here is a scarce and very desirable Colt revolver. This is the famous single action .45 caliber Colt "Army" revolver. This gun is accompanied by 2 important letters. The first is the letter from the Colt Factory. It states that this gun was part of a 100 gun shipment that was shipped from the Colt factory on November 5th 1885. The second letter is from the foremost authority on Colt single action revolvers, John A. Kopec. In his letter he tells how this pistol was one of 55 guns shipped to Georgia on July 31st 1886. As for the gun itself it has the full-length 7-1/2 inch barrel. Along the top of the barrel it has the Colt Firearms marking as well as the Hartford, Connecticut production location. on the underside of the barrel it has the "P" military proof mark as well as the "D.F.C." inspector initials that stand for David F. Clark. He was the Ordnance Sub-Inspector for the Government. The left hand side of the frame has the "US" stamping to go along with the Colt patent dates. All of the serial numbers are matching at 115,927. The gun has the beautiful original grips intact. They are the 1-piece versions made of walnut wood. On the left hand side it has the oval with the "FH" initials that stand for the Ordnance inspector Frank Heath. It also has the small 1885 production date above the cartouche. On the other side of the grip it has the "FSDC" inspector cartouche. Above this cartouche it has the extra special "GA" stamping that denotes the gun being issued by the State of Georgia. This makes this gun extra special and deserving of a special place in your collection.
