This is a scarce piece it is a Colt 3rd Model Martial marked Dragoon pattern revolver. This is the pattern that has the 4 screw design and the cut on the frame so it can accept the shoulder stock. It has all matching serial numbers of 17,102 and thanks to Mr. Colts bookkeepers we know that it would have been made in 1858. What is special about this gun is that not only is it a nice piece in its own right but it is accompanied by an original shoulder stock. The shoulder stock has the serial numbers of 17211/17212. The gun itself has all numbers matching. The metal has a very clean grey/turning brown color with a smooth surface that has lots of eye appeal with some salt and pepper spots. The action of the gun has excellent mechanics and it locks up tight and smooth. The 7 1/2" barrel is the pattern with the rear folding leaf sight. Just in front of the sight it has the address line reads "Saml Colt New York" still nice and clearly visible. The gun has the correct sub inspection marks on triggerguard and backstrap. The 1-piece walnut grip cartouches are present with some of the original factory varnish. As for the shoulder stock it displays well but was broken at one time and you can see the line where it was restored. The stock serial numbers are within 115 numbers of gun itself (they never matched as they were randomly selected from shipping boxes). It still has the ring on the bottom of the stock and it has the iron buttplate. This is a great displaying revolver and shoulderstock that deserves a fine home!
