Greensboro, North Carolina $2.00 Issued in 1858 by the Greensboro Mutual

Here is an original 1858 dated bank note issued by the Greensboro Mutual Life Insurance and Trust Company. Written on the note it states that "this certifies that W.M. Skown (') has deposited TWO DOLLARS in this company, payable to him, or bearer, in current funds, on return of this certificate." If you notice they say "in current funds" which hedged their bets in case the Civil War broke out. It is correctly hand signed and numbered and has the printed date of issuance of July 1st 1858. The note has the black ink printing. It has the large "TWO" overprinted in the middle of the note. Along the bottom left-hand corner it has the New York printers marking. With this note being dated 1858 from North Carolina it surely was in the hands of a Confederate. The note is nice displaying well circulated condition and is 100% authentic. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.

Layaway terms are; 1/3 down and 1/3 in 30 days with balance due in full in 60 days. Due to time factors there are no refunds or price discounts on layaways.
