Brady's Negative View CDV Image of General Randolph Marcy in Uniform

This is an authentic CDV image of Union General Randolph Barnes Marcy (1812-1887). Macy was born on April 9th 1812 in Greenwich, Massachusetts. He graduated from West Point in the class of 1832. He served during the Mexican War. He served with Albert Sidney Johnston on the Mormon Expedition. In 1861 he was serving as Chief of Staff for George B. McClellan who was his son-in-law. On September 28th 1861 he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General but the senate did not confirm the promotion. On December 12th 1878 he was promoted to the position of inspector general of the U.S. Army and finally achieve the confirmed rank of Brigadier General. He died on November 2nd 1887 and is buried in Trenton, New Jersey. It is a nice clear CDV of the general in his best dress uniform with the view from the waist up. The overall size of a CDV image is approximately 2.5 inches by 4 inches in size. The back of this card has the desirable photographer mark of the Anthony firm in New York City and notes that it was made from one of Mathew Brady's photographic negatives. It is a fine original CDV that will make a solid addition to any Civil War collection.
