This is an original Civil War Newspaper. It is an original edition of the most famous of all Civil War newspapers entitled the Harpers Weekly. This one is dated July 11th 1863. Harpers Weekly newspapers were known for their beautiful engraving photos. This one has the vivid image of Union General George Meade when he became the new Commander of the Army of the Potomac on the cover. On the inside of the paper it has lots of interesting articles and images. The center scene is set of naval images including one of the Confederate Ironclad the C.S.S. Atlanta. A Couple of the other engravings are of the scenes at the sieges of Port Hudson & Vicksburg. The back pages of the paper have tons of advertisements for various products and services of the day. The back page has a small spot or two of tape repair that doesn't detract from the display but is mentioned for exactness. This is a nice solid example of the famous Harpers Weekly Civil War newspaper.
